TORONTO, July 2009: University of Toronto science student, Deanna Dickins, is committed to using make-up safe for sensitive skin that is animal cruelty-free in her new make-up business
Deanna Dickins is a professional freelance make-up artist who specializes in bridal and formal make-up and has experience with make-up for still photography. She founded her company, Deanna Dickins Make-Up Art, in summer 2009 with the help of the Summer Company Program. The program provides students with mentorship and financial support to help them start-up a business over the summer months. Deanna’s make-up style is clean and elegant, emphasizing the natural beauty of her clients. She is an on-location make-up artist Toronto and the GTA and offers competitive pricing while using only professional quality make-up on her clients.
Deanna has over six years of experience having learned make-up art from her mother, Joanne; a professional make-up artist for film and television. Joanne has been in the make-up business for over 25 years and taught Deanna the basics of make-up at a young age. As she grew older, Deanna learned basic special effects and make-up for theatre and photography. She then developed her own style for formal and evening make-up, emphasizing her clients’ best feature.
As a life science student at the University of Toronto, Deanna is conscious of the products she uses, in particular on her face. All of her make-up is safe for sensitive skin, ophthalmologist tested, oil-free and animal cruelty-free.
Since officially creating Deanna Dickins Make-Up Art in June 2009, Deanna has created elegant prom looks, classic bridal party looks and has done make-up for high fashion photography. She is currently writing a guide book to make-up, proving to audiences that professional looking make-up can achieved at home.
